WHO WE ARE
AMWA-NY has over 300 members, while the national organization of AMWA has more than 5,600 members living within the United States, Canada, and 30 other countries.
Our chapter members are a dynamic combination of people who write, edit, or develop a wide range of medical materials for lay and professional audiences. Types of organizations that we work for include:
- Biotechnology/pharmaceutical/medical device companies
- Continuing medical education companies
- Contract research organizations
- Government agencies
- Hospitals and research institutions
- Journal publishers and healthcare media

Some of us have backgrounds with strong medical or science experience, while others have solid writing or journalism experience. Together we share our love for writing, science, and medicine.

Qing Zhou, PhD
Qing Zhou has extensive industry experience in medical writing, scientific communications, and publication management. She currently leads planning, development, and dissemination of scientific publications of clinical, translational, and health outcomes research in the field of immuno-oncology. A long-time AMWA member and volunteer, Qing has served at the national and chapter levels and is a Section Editor of the AMWA Journal. Qing is also a Past President of AMWA-NY.

Anjani Shah is a biomedical communications consultant with a doctorate in cell biology. She produces conferences for scientists in the drug discovery industry, writes for industry trade publications, and helps pharma and biotech companies explain their work to the media and investors. Her passion is working with scientists and physicians to communicate their work to a broader audience. Anjani is also a Past President of AMWA-NY.
